Mik Jacobs was directing and writing theatrical shows for Black Swan Theater Group, a community company which he founded. One morning after a great show with a full house, he was approached by Lisa Van Deman, the former Executive Director of Arts in Action of North Carolina but, at that time, the Director of Education for the Orlando Science Center (OSC). Lisa asked him to consider helping with a small company of actors who were performing science theater. Soon, Mik was working full time at OSC, writing and directing the science center's public programs. Since then, Mik has written, directed, and performed for some of the most distinguished corporations, museums and science centers in the country. This includes: The Treasures of Russia, at the Rio in Las Vegas; The World of Coca- Cola, in Las Vegas; Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; The Berkshire Museum, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts; the National DARE Conference; Florida Power and Light Company; NextEra Energy Resources; the Orlando Police Department; and many more.
Mik has presented science shows for The International Museum Festival (Hong Kong), The International Science Festival (Edinburgh), The Cheltenham Science Festival (Cheltenham), SciTechKno Fest (Trinidad). He's been seen performing sensational science for audiences at Sarasota's annual E-Fest and Ft. Myers' Edison Festival, Florida Panthers' hockey games, and even at the world renowned West Palm Beach Jazz Festival. Mik has been a guest speaker for The National Education Outreach Network, The International Museum Theatre Alliance, Florida Association of Science Teachers and the American Association of Science and Technology Centers . He's also been a session speaker for The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural Museums, The Florida Association of Science Supervisors, and The American Association of Museums. Because Mik's career began in music and acting, he retains his membership in American Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) and diligently practices his guitar!
Currently, Mik Jacobs travels around the world presenting amazing live science programs and educational workshops to schools, homeschool groups, libraries, museums, science centers, university and corporate sponsored events. Mik's shows are extremely entertaining, highly educational and packed with exciting demonstrations for great audiences of all ages. Plus, there's a great opportunity for fantastic photos and positive press coverage.
